Write your "to do list" in a journal daily to keep you on track. It doesn't matter if you prefer to write your list at the end of the day for the next day, or first thing in the morning - just write the list. I say to use a journal, just so you can go back and be proud of your progress. I personally get a feeling of satisfaction when I can physically check things off my list - it makes me feel accomplished.
According to Dr. Gail Matthews, psychology professor at Dominican University in California, has done studies that conclude that those who write down their goals are 42% more likely to achieve them than those who don't. That's pretty astonishing! This works for your daily chores as well as long term goals.
Then, a good business owner or manager will share those goals with their team. Dr. Matthews also has shown that when you share your goals, the likelihood of accomplishment goes up even further! Not only that, when you give your subordinates goals and let them know you are all working to accomplish them together, they feel a sense of purpose and team. Employees want to know that they can make a difference - if you don't tell them what your goals are, how can they help you reach them?
So - write and share your lists and goals, teach your managers to write and share their goals and lets get on the road to success!
